Privacy Policy
Last updated: 31 August 2026
Light Bearers for Christ (“LBC”, “we”, “us”) is a church based in Ashford, Kent, United Kingdom. This policy explains what personal information we handle, why, and what rights you have over it. We have tried to write it in plain English rather than legal language.
The short version
This website does not ask you for personal information, does not use tracking or advertising cookies, and does not build a profile of you. If you email us, we hold your email in order to reply to you. That is essentially the whole picture.
Information we collect through this website
- Nothing you have to give us. There are no sign-up forms, contact forms or accounts on this site.
- Standard server records. Like all websites, our hosting provider automatically records technical information when a page is requested — the IP address making the request, the page, the time, and the browser type. This is used to keep the site running and secure. We do not use it to identify individuals.
- No cookies from us. We set no cookies and use no analytics or advertising trackers. Links to YouTube and Facebook are ordinary links, so nothing is loaded from those companies until you choose to click through.
If you contact us
When you email us — including with a prayer request — we keep that correspondence so we can respond and, where you have asked us to, continue to pray with you and follow up pastorally. We do not sell, rent or trade your details, and we do not pass them to anyone outside the church leadership without your permission. Prayer requests are treated as confidential and are shared within the leadership team only as far as is needed to care for you.
We keep correspondence for as long as it is useful for pastoral care, and delete it on request.
Watching our services
Our services are broadcast on YouTube and Facebook. When you watch there, you are on their platforms and their privacy policies apply, not ours. We can see the aggregate statistics those platforms provide — such as how many people watched and roughly which countries they were in. We cannot see who you are as an individual viewer, and we do not try to.
Our in-person services are filmed and streamed. If you attend, you may appear in the broadcast or in clips taken from it. If you would prefer not to be filmed, tell any member of the team when you arrive and we will seat you away from the cameras and take care with what we publish.
Our video uploading tool
We use a small in-house application, “LBC Uploader”, to publish our own sermon recordings to our own YouTube channel. It is used only by our church leadership on church equipment.
- It is authorised only to upload videos to our channel. It is granted a single
permission (
youtube.upload) and cannot read your data, our viewers' data, subscriber lists, comments or analytics. - Its access credentials are stored locally on church equipment and are not shared with anyone or transmitted to any third party.
- It collects no information about visitors to this site or viewers of our channel.
Our use of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including its Limited Use requirements. Access granted to the application can be reviewed or withdrawn at any time at myaccount.google.com/permissions.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you have the right to ask us what personal information we hold about you, to have it corrected if it is wrong, to have it deleted, and to object to our use of it. Write to us at the address below and we will respond within one month.
If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
Changes
If this policy changes, the revised version will appear on this page with a new date at the top.
